The Shamen - En-tact (1990)

I'm so glad it's not 1990 anymore. Not that dance or techno music has really gotten any better since then. It's probably completely flat actually. But one thing that has definitely improved in the last quarter century is digital technology. The synths The Shamen used to create the opening track "Move Any Mountain" sound so dated, they may as well have been built hundreds of years ago. My old Casio keyboard we bought at Toys R' Us would probably match it's output.

The only thing that really sticks with me about En-tact is the phrase "I can move any mountain," probably because it makes appearances in multiple songs on the album. When it does it's just a resampling of the recording from the opening track. So the album is constantly sampling itself. LAME!

What more can you say about a dance music album? If you've heard dance music in your life you know what to expect. It's all about the beat and sounding synthy. I doubt you're likely to ever hear En-tact as anything more than a snippet in some DJ's remix. 1 star.
