Dusty Springfield - Dusty In Memphis (1969)

It's unfortunate for Dusty Springfield that I had to hear this album right after Lady Soul. Dusty and Aretha do kinda the same thing but with slightly different flavors. Dusty's voice is slightly drier and less powerful, and the music leans more towards blues with ever so slightly less soul. As such the music on Dusty in Memphis is beautiful but a step down from Lady Soul. I doubt I'd be saying this if I had heard Dusty in Memphis first. I still like it. Again the style is dated but the songs are lovely and expertly performed. 3 stars.
