David Ackles - American Gothic (1972)

Just listened to David Ackles' American Gothic. It's hard to classify. Ackles has a low tenor voice and sings in an American folk style. Some of the music could be considered folk rock I guess. But most of the songs are complex orchestral arrangements with uncertain melodies- by that I mean it's hard to really hum the songs after one listen. I was impressed by the scope of the music, but I can't really say whether or not I liked the album. I'll give it 3 initial stars, but for the first time in my quest I know I need to hear that one again. I reserve the right to update my thoughts, because American Gothic was too much to absorb at once.
