T. Rex - The Slider (1972)
(originally posted on Facebook)
I think "glam metal" as T. Rex is purported to be, is supposed to be like if hair metal was in on the joke. The problem is glam metal came first, so what T. Rex does on this album is earnest. Which is OK, because at the same time they're doing all the standard cheesy metal stuff they're also doing some weird progressions and melodies that make the album kinda discordant. I liked that part, but I did not like the lead's voice. He was pretty squishy, like any typical white guy with a British accent trying to sing a dramatic ballad. There wasn't much memorable about the album, but I wouldn't mind hearing it again. 3 stars.
