If you want to hear something powerful, pompous, and self-indulgent, then here it is. Maybe it's the fact that I've never heard Scott Walker before, or maybe it's the fact that I didn't grow up surrounded by his music that I just never got tired of his style... but for me it works. Walker has a powerful instrument and wonderfully fills out the dark themes of the melodies. The recording quality is pretty poor for an orchestral album. which dates it badly, and the album is a bit on the long side, but the music is quite lovely. 4 stars.
