Do bands use echo-ey effects and double tracking when they realize they have a shitty lead singer they have to smooth out? Suede (also known as The London Suede from my reading) seems to be a good instrumental band. This album has some rich compositions and arrangements. Its production values are stuck in the 80s despite being released in 1993, but it's a bit sharper than the Gary Numan and Echo and the Bunnymen albums I've previously reviewed. That's probably because Suede has more heavy guitar work and relatively light synthesizers. The only major problem I have with Suede is the lead singer. He has poor range, overuses his falsetto, and has an extremely thick accent which almost feels like he's putting on. I am very pleased by the guitar orchestration at work, but the 80s-ness is a real detriment to fully enjoying things, so I'll give this one 3 stars.
